Kelly Cuevas >> Jean Faucher

Jean Faucher plays a lot with distortion. When the viewer looks at his work we first notice the shapes and colors rather than the actual image. The photo is masked by the distortion of the surface. It seems as though he plays with portraits because a face is one of the easiest things that the brain can comprehend. In doing so our vision is blurred and it takes a few seconds to put the pieces together. Photography is only one media that he uses. Painting, installations, and sculptures also seem to capture his artistic ability. However, he continues this study of manipulation through shapes and colors.
