Jessica Hawkins reviews Rinko Kawauchi

Rinko Kawauchi is a Japanese Photographer who takes stunning photos of ordinary things put in a poetic light. She studied at Seian College of Art and Design and that's where she became interested in photography. In 2001 she got three photobooks published: Hanako (a Japanese girl's name), Utatane ("catnap"), and Hanabi ("fireworks"). She won awards for these books and that's when here photography took off. I just love how intimate her photos feel. She focuses up close on something we see everyday, and makes it beautiful.
