Christopher Ramirez reviews Brain Ulrich

Brain Ulrich is a photographer based in America who is known for his exploration of consumer culture. His series Copia- Retail, Thrift, Dark Stores is a very powerful series that feature beautiful photographs that show all three versions of people at a retail outlet stores in brightly lit color photographs, to people in overcrowded thrift stores to abandoned businesses that have been left to ruins. Each of the three separate topics, Retail, Thrift, Dark Stores, all are very beautiful well taken photographs that almost have a still life feel to them as well as a pose feel to them. But there are neither, these photos are things that Ulrich saw as he was documenting everything, even the portraits are well done and aren’t real portraits since the people are never looking in the camera but are caught in the act of shopping. These images are very vivid and full of color which come together so well.
