REB reviews Rosanna Jones

Rosanna Jones is a photographer and mixed media artist and she challenges how body image can be a lifetime test. Her series Skin she searches how body-image either good or bad can unconsciously affect your identity. Jones began the series investigating how the face many of us show openly ends up being the front which hides our true nature from ourselves. She raises questions of concepts of beauty in regard to how a person feels inside compared to how a person is seen by the outside world. Each photograph, composition mixes layers of paint on top of a digital photograph collage, which adds an allure to the shrouded and obscure work. Her palette of pastels mixes with the subject’s body and the striking colors and milky white skin unify in a blur of fascinating disfigurement.
