Illustration Artist Laura Bifano from Vancouver has worked on many projects in editorial illustration and storyboard art, and she has won several awards for her work. In addition to her illustrations, she has a series of paintings called
Menagerie. These 12 paintings include polygonal, lego-like animal characters in illustrative backgorunds. The works were inspired by her love of nature and classic video games. I appreciate these paintings because they combine nature with technology. Bifano has created images of animals in a sort of cubist like manner representing technology or the digital world of pixels. The figures stand out and are set apart in a way from their natural backgrounds. I also really love her use of color, and the foreground background placement of her compositions.
