7-Heather Dunn submits Josef Schulz

Josef Schulz’s recent work “Poststructure” contains images of boarded up and unused buildings.  The feeling of loss and abandonment comes through in his images. The way he has positioned the subject in the frame exposes the large amount of space around these buildings, showing that they are not in use.  Another series titled, “Sign Out” shows images of restaurant and store signs along the highway that have been manipulated to only show the shape of the signs and not the text.  This is Schulz’s way to make driving down the highway more peaceful. By taking away the constant bombardment of these signs trying to coax one into their store, one can imagine their journey to be more serene.
