Clarissa Gutierrez- reviews Catherine Nelson

She started her career as a painter doing a couple of murals for well known films such as Moulin Rouge  and Harry Potter. Nowadays the australian painter combines her painting skills with digital-post-production imagery, creating surreal compositions in her pictures. In my opinion, the way Nelson gives landscapes a twist is fascinating to the viewer's eyes, combining color, patterns, and the use of negative space. I deeply enjoy the compositions made out of landscape format creating a circular form. I also appreciate the way she manipulates depth of field in order to create perspective.

According to Nelson's bio in her website whenever she "embraced the medium of photography, she felt that taking a picture that represented only what was within the frame of the lens wasn't expressing her personal and inner experience of the world around me. With the eye and training of a painter and with years of experience behind her in film visual effects, she began to take her photos to another level"
