Irene Lozano submits Laurie Simmons

Laurie Simmons is a photographer from New York. She is know for her staged photographs
of paper dolls, finger puppets, ventriloquist dummies , and costumed dancers. The subjects in her work are mainly women, her photographs tend to objectify them. The images she creates question gender roles in an almost a playful manner . Simmons constructs the women in these photos to show how they are struggling with identity, struggling with their role in society . Simmons only worked in black and white , in the eighties is when she started to experiment with color. I put a few photos up from a variety of series. Be sure to look up her website.
